What to see, do and explore when you visit the museum
The museum is a great place for everyone and with 150 years of engineering history and pumps operating on our working and steam days, there's so much to see and do.
There is a water park and trails for the children and so much more for the enthusiast to enjoy.
Our team of dedicated volunteers look forward to welcoming you and sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for all things to do with pumps and water.
. . . and with a cafe serving a delicious selection of home made cakes and pastries, and museum shop to explore, it really is a great place to visit for everyone.

We are open every Tuesday 11.00am to 4.00pm throughout the year, plus selected Sundays during the summer

Walking /Cycling
We are within a mile walking/ cycling distance of the city centre, follow the Wye Valley walk in the direction of Hay-on-Wye.
. . . and our Water Park is not just for the kids . . .
If you are curious about how things work, then spend some time in our Water Park. The Noel Meeke Heritage Water Park is unique in the UK and is aimed primarily at young people but everyone is encouraged to have a go with the historic water devices.
Your can interact with full-size devices for lifting, pumping, moving and filtering water which have been used down the generations. In a totally safe environment children can have immense fun and learn at the same time the difficulties of obtaining water in days gone by.

Water Park
Our award winning Water Park lets you immerse in the fun of water, from lifting and pumping, to moving and filtering.
Cafe & Picnic Area
We offer a selection of hot and cold drinks, plus a delicious selection of fresh homemade scones, cakes and savouries.
Miniature Railway
Why not take a ride on Hereford's Little Railway run by the Hereford Society of Model Engineers.
WW II
Our WWII exhibition gives an insight into day to day life and the fire-fighting equipment used at the Rotherwas Munitions.
The Volunteers at the Waterworks Museum want to make your visit to the museum as enjoyable as possible.
A description of the museum building and grounds, most of which is accessible to everyone, is provided in our Accessibility Guide (which is available in a number of formats).
However, being a Victorian water pumping station, our floors and external surfaces are not all flat and even, and the upper part of the museum site is on higher ground.
Assistance dogs are welcomed throughout the museum.
For those who need some additional assistance our volunteers are always on hand to help and we are able to provide a mobility scooter and wheelchair for visitor use.
Our volunteers are always happy to describe our engines and pumps or read signs and other information to support visually impaired visitors.
