WATERWORKS MUSEUM CLOSED FOR WINTER MAINTENANCE

Maintenance 1

The Directors have this week agreed to close the Waterworks Museum until Tuesday, 1 March 2022.

This decision was taken to minimise the risk to visitors and the museum’s volunteers at a time when the Covid-19 (Omicron) infection rate in the county is at its highest since the pandemic started.

Chairman, Richard Curtis, said: ‘We have temporarily closed the Museum because we traditionally receive very few visitors in the winter months.  We also have a significant backlog of maintenance that has built up in the past year or so as volunteers naturally focused on preparing the Museum for reopening after the initial Covid closure.  Closing now protects the health of our volunteers who will be invited to return to work shortly - in a phased way working in ‘volunteer bubbles’ - to ensure essential maintenance is completed before we reopen in March.’

In December, the Directors announced that a Steampunk Experience would return to Waterworks Museum on Saturday, 9 April 2022.  The date(s) of other open days and attractions will be announced in due course.

Enquiries should be addressed to info@waterworksmuseum.org.uk.
