Great place for a group to visit
We had an interesting time here ending in a picnic and playing in the water park area experimenting with lots of different ways to move water around great time had by all. My only very small criticism was the lack of guides as this would have made it more interesting to the children, but understand the cost of having extra staff is difficult.
Brilliant gala day
We visited on gala day it was brilliant. Loads of engines in steam. A range of vintage vehicles and a brass band. Great day out. There was also a children's interactive water pumping area, this was great for my 5 year old but we enjoyed it too, really good way to learn about how we get drinking water. The volunteers were excellent, they needed a bit of help in the kitchen though! Highly recommend a visit on a steam day. Great stuff.
We were surprised by how interesting and engaging this museum was. Great active area for kids where they can try their hand at various simple pumps and a fascinating collection of original machinery used to supply Hereford with water. We did not go on an "in steam" day (and fully intend to return to do so) but this did not spoil our enjoyment. If you are visiting the area or a local, make sure you visit the Waterworks Museum.
Engines "in steam" - great afternoon!
I organised a visit for 43 members of our classic car group. We were unable to visit on an "in-steam" day, so paid to have the engines put in steam. The museum staff and guides, all volunteers, could not have been more welcoming. There was plenty to occupy both those of us with an interest in heavy machinery/water supply and those of us who don't. A great time was had by all.
